I moved to Quedgeley in 1991, became a Quedgeley Parish Councillor in 1999 and was Chairman of the Parish Council from 2001 to 2006.
As current Chair of the Waterwells Sports Centre committee I am committed to making the centre a superb asset to Quedgeley.
As a Parish Councillor I want to make Quedgeley a more attractive place in which to live, with more local facilities. I want the City and County Councils to provide the facilities for which the developers have paid them, and for a fair share of the spending by those authorities to be made in Quedgeley.
I want the developers to provide the facilities they agreed to make available when they obtained planning permission. I made the Parish submission to the public inquiry into the planning application for RAF Quedgeley, now Kingsway. 69 conditions were requested, 63 were imposed, and these were adequately reflected in the unilateral undertaking made by the developers. The City and County Councils are responsible for enforcing those undertakings, and obtaining the facilities promised to residents in 2003.
I am a Governor of Kingsway Primary School, and was Chair of Governors from 2007 to 2009 to open the new school. Previously I have been a Governor of Tuffley Primary School, Parent Governor of Ribston Hall High School, Chair of Ribston Hall Association, Treasurer and Chair of Crypt School Association, and Deputy Chair of King’s School Parent’s Association. In 2005 I received an award from the Education Authority for 20 years’ service as a school Governor.
Most of my career has been as an Engineer to design and supervise the construction of road, waste water and sewerage schemes. I have been employed by Gloucester City Council and Severn Trent Water Ltd. From 2006 to 2009 I worked for Atkins Consulting Engineers as a Senior Engineer with a design team of graduate and undergraduate Engineers, looking after ten to twelve schemes per year with total project budget equivalent to £8.4M.
In 2009 I went to University and completed a BSc in Occupational Safety and Health achieving First Class Honours in just one year. I am currently an independent consultant in Construction, Safety and Health, and always looking for more work.
I am also a member of the Consumers Association, National Trust, and English Heritage.
