I was educated at St Thomas Rich’s School, Gloucester following which I was conscripted into the RAF for three years before returning to full time education at Bristol University. On graduating I was employed by Vickers Armstrong, Gloster Aircraft as a metallurgist researching materials for use in supersonic aircraft and feasibility studies for Harrier and Concorde aircraft, spending some of the time in the USA and France.

Following this I returned to academic life as a Senior Lecturer in metallurgy at Gloscat carrying out some work as a consultant for several local firms. I then became involved in the development of short courses for students both at home and from overseas and also in student recruitment. My final post from which I retired, gracefully I hope, was as Director of Marketing and Publicity.

Being Gloucester born and bred I spent a large part of my life in the City and have a great interest in its development recalling that in my youth Quedgeley was only a very small village. Having lived in Quedgeley for the last five and a half years I have watched it grow with great interest and now wish to influence the changes as far as I am able to ensure that it continues to improve.
