Councillor Rex Vick (Fieldcourt Ward)

Phone: (01452) 690175
I decided to come to Gloucestershire after four and a half years in Gibraltar as our only contacts in the UK live here and my name ‘Vick’ can be traced back to Kings Stanley in the 16th Century. My wife and I picked Quedgeley as being the best area for public transport and other necessary amenities.
Having served 25 years as an Executive Officer with the now defunct Greater London Council and as Clerk to Charmouth Parish Council for six years, I still retain an interest in local government, so I decided to apply for the vacancy in the Fieldcourt Ward and was successful.
In addition to my local government experience, I was also an adviser for the Citizens Advice Bureau in Taunton for seven years specializing in debt and employment tribunals as well as being an advocate for Age Concern there.
I am at present Senior Steward at Quedgeley Methodist Church and was pleased that I was re-elected as Councillor in May 2011 after joining the Council in October 2007.
I am particularly interested in planning and transportation and support any effort to maintain the existing open spaces. I was pleased to be elected Chairman of the Planning & Development Committee at its first meeting. I try to visit any location of particular interest that comes up on the agenda to familiarise myself with the site.
